"How do you pick the right lawyer?")
Call me if you're overwhelmed and not even sure what kind of lawyer you need -- or if you need a lawyer
at all. Call if your matters seem complex, or unique, or involve multiple areas of law.
Some lawyers have limited practices, and are uncomfortable or unwilling to get involved
in issues outside the scope of their limited practice -- even to help you retain another specialist.
Call if you don't want your matters handled by a new associate in a large firm, or if you don't want a big deal made
over what you believe should be a simple matter.
Call Liz if you need a contract, brief, or other kind of document drafted. I don't use "forms". I don't need to. I
create them for my clients, as well as for other lawyers to use.
Call if you want to invest a little time and effort now to reduce
your potential future legal fees and problems, or to avoid probate.
It's always cheaper and easier to prevent problems than to try to fix them later.
You might just need a will, or a trust, or a deed, or a letter, or a simple contract or promissory note. You might
just need some practical advice. You might be able to get a simple divorce, quickly.
Call if your loved one has been injured, diagnosed with something serious, is dying or has just died.
Call if you've just been served with papers and don't know what to do. Call if you've been treated unfairly.
If the matter is not something either I or Lisa handles, I still will tell you what kind of lawyer you do need. Why? Because you
will come back to me another time, and because most of my work comes from client referrals.
Call me -- or Lisa --
immediately if you just got a bad decision in a family law case anywhere in the State of Florida and need
that decision appealed.
And if you are in Dade, Broward or Palm Beach counties, call us before you even get involved in a
divorce or paternity case, because preparation and planning now can make a huge difference later.
Call (or, if you are not in Florida, then have your lawyer call us)
if you need assistance or advice with
mental health forensic (custody evaluator) issues in your child custody case.
Call if
the problem you have is with
your lawyer or expert.
Call if you have a possible legal dispute in the context
of a business or personal relationship that must be ongoing.
We will help you find a solution that takes into consideration your non-legal personal
and financial interests and goals, without compromising your legal needs.
Call if you need someone
who can be creative in fashioning a strategy and a solution for your special situation,
using whatever approach, methods, and legal tools will work --
whether in facilitating communications or coaching, negotiations
or settlement, mediation, litigation, co-counseling, or consulting with another lawyer you currently have. (I also
consult to lawyers in other jurisdictions in the United States and Canada, in matters involving Florida law,
interstate family law issues, brief writing and editing, case strategies,
and problems with forensic experts in family law cases.)
I have more than three decades of unusually broad-based
experience handling or supervising a wide variety of legal matters.
After obtaining an LL.M in tax law, following my law degree in 1980, I worked with a
large firm doing corporate
and personal transactions, divorce and business planning, and then spent some years managing
a wide range of different kinds of matters, litigation, and lawyers for a variety of
large and small businesses as well as individuals, including as General Counsel for
public companies. In the mid-90s, family considerations brought me back into private practice.
I take pride in quality and results, and in striving to give my
clients a
bottom-line, holistic approach to addressing their legal needs
in the context of their other, non-legal goals. Consequently, I've kept a diverse practice of clients with
different kinds of matters, maintained contacts throughout the country, and kept abreast of a
variety of areas of the law. I also am of counsel or regularly co-counsel, consult, and work with
several law firms in different areas of practice as my clients have had those needs. Many of my
clients have been with me all of these years, and some of them are even lawyers themselves.
